Top 10 Comic Book Covers – Week 2/25/2015
Here are my choices for top comic book covers. As always there are way to many to pick from but these definitely got my attention!
Another good week of covers and yes Dynamite Entertainment had a couple sprinkled in the mix. The first by Michael Turner was definitely a head turner. If that can’t be considered art then I don’t know why the public refers to them as comic book artists. An up and coming artist that I have come to appreciate is Juan Ferreyra. His covers and comic art are absolutely stunning to say the least. A new series out from IDW Publishing called simply D4VE looks interesting and the retailer incentive variant was definitely dissimilar to the rest of the lot but immensely enjoyable to look at.
Another cover that made the list made it because of one question I had at first glance and that was, where’s the big industrial fan? Seriously do you think Darth Vader is using his powers of the dark side to flail his cape about? I suppose only Mr. Granov knows the answer to this mystery. One artist that never seems to disappoint is none other than Jae Lee. This weeks virgin variant of Doctor Spektor Master of the Occult was awe-inspiring. Emanuela Lupacchino is growing on me with each week. Her drawings are detailed and look like works of art. I haven’t seen much from Greg Tocchini but the stuff I have is impressive. Skottie Young, great Spider-Gwen cover; cute as hell!
I follow Transformers to the T and look forward with anything released out of the IDW camp. Drift Empire of Stone is another series that has done a extraordinary job at expanding the overall universe and creating new and memorable characters not to mention elevating the ones you already know like Drift. Sarah Stone’s interpretation of Drift looks pretty bad ass to me. Please IDW, keep her employed for as long as you can! Finally I love James Stokoe’s cover for Zombies vs. Robots, great 3D work on a 2D cover.
