#Comic Book Update – Weekly Top 10 Covers 10.4.2017

First week of October and wow what a slow week for covers.  Took me a while to find them but I managed to get 10 and by far Amy Reeder’s cover for Rocket Girl #10 is simply amazing.  Using the entire cover she was able to layer in a heart felt rendition of our main character looking over the city.  If you have been following the comic series as I have then you’d know that the writer Brandon Montclare  and artist Amy Reeder took a rather extended break from the series that got it’s initial funding from their GoFundMe site.  Thankfully they are continuing the series with story arc 2 coming to an end.  Another one was Sara Richard’s My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic #59.  I realize that I feature her a lot but I swear that her artist talent continues to improve with each cover, year after year.  Her unique style seems almost perfect, clean lines, clean colors, and no imperfections to her drawings. If you feel the need to share your thoughts concerning my choices please do and I hope to see you back here next week for another edition of the top 10!

#Comic Book Update – Weekly Top 10 Covers 9.27.2017

The last week of September, boy did that month fly by.  This week we have the beginning of the Marvel Legacy story line that includes a hefty amount of variant covers, oh joy, not really, and yes those famous DC style lenticular variant covers.  If you feel the need to grab them the first set that comes out are usually the ones everyone forgot to preorder so yes, that means rare.  I think this weeks Tim Sale variant cover for Infinite Loop But The Truth really stood out from the rest of the pack.  I love the attention to detail and it’s more artistic approach.  If you feel the need to share your thoughts concerning my choices please do and I hope to see you back here next week for another edition of the top 10!

#Comic Book Update – Weekly Top 10 Covers 9.20.2017

Another week has passed and as I’ve heard the Dark Phoenix will rise again with the resurrection of the original adult version of Jean Grey.  Now that was hinted in the newly minted ongoing series centered around the younger Jean Grey from the past but I think it’s cool.  To bad that both her boyfriends are dead now, no more bickering between Wolverine and Cyclops about who is the better man for Jean.  Any ways, this week had a mix of good and bad but after sifting though the list I was able to compile my 10.  The one cover that stood out from the rest was Marco Checchetto’s venomized cover of the Phoenix Force for Jean Grey #7. I also think Stjepan Sejic’s Aquaman #28 cover stood out as well.  His use of darker colors helped make the cover pop. If you feel the need to share your thoughts concerning my choices please do and I hope to see you back here next week for another edition of the top 10!

  • Adventure Time Comics #15 Incentive Jen Bartel Virgin Variant

#Comic Book Update – Weekly Top 10 Covers 9.13.2017

Been a bit since my last post so I’ll try and get back into doing this again.  Now that school for my kids has finally shifted into high gear I can think more clearly and have a few more minutes to myself.  I guess we’ll see how long that lasts as the holiday season fast approaches.  As you can see there seems to be a large group of beautifully drawn women representing the top ten this week.  My favorite of course was done by Emanuela Lupacchino for Superwoman but lets not forget a very intriguing true to the character representation of Harley Quinn drawn by Whilce Portacio for Suicide Squad.  Grungy and dirty, I think makes for a bad ass Harley.  Finally Rob Liefeld actually did a spot on job with his character for Youngblood; out with the bulk.  If you feel the need to share your thoughts concerning my choices please do and I hope to see you back here next week for another edition of the top 10!

Here are my top 10 eye catching comic book cover choices for this week.  It’s been a few weeks since my last posting simply because as a father time simply slips by faster than you can grab a hold of it.  I had to attend many softball games and practices for my daughter and they all paid off, she won the local championships in her league!  Any ways, as I melt here in our heat wave with frozen grapes in hand, I unfortunately had a hard time finding covers this week.  I even picked a cover I usually don’t pick, a Grimm Fairy Tales simply because Alfredo Reyes did a phenomenal job of the woman figure.  If you feel the need to share your thoughts concerning my choices please do and I hope to see you back here next week for another edition of the top 10!

#Comic Book Update – Weekly Top 10 Covers 5.3.2017

Here are my top 10 eye catching comic book cover choices for this week.  Who’s excited for Guardians of the Galaxy 2?!?!  I AM!  Gonna spend the cash for the 3D version of the movie this weekend with the wife.  Should be a fun date night.  As for covers this week, not so fun, what’s up with the Indie comics and nude covers, been quite a few past couple of weeks.  However I did break down and selected a non-nude but risque photo one I found rather funny and the artwork was well drawn.   That being Cavewoman Destination Jungle #1 variant by Dean Yeagle.  A favorite artist of mine Juan Ferreyra has a regular cover out for Green Arrow Vol 7 #22.  I discovered his artwork back in 2015 when he was working on the Colder series released by Dark Horse Comics.  That is another series you all should read up on, fabulous story and off the hook art that really brings the story alive.  However, the one that takes the cake this week is a remastered cover Jean Grey #1 Incentive Dave Cockrum Remastered Variant that is currently priced up on Midtown Comics website for over 1K.  So if your comic book collection is in need of a 1K cover then please don’t hesitate and go jump on over to Midtown before it’s too late.  If you feel the need to share your thoughts concerning my choices please do and I hope to see you back here next week for another edition of the top 10!

#Comic Book Update – Weekly Top 10 Covers 4.26.2017

Here are my top 10 eye catching comic book cover choices for this week.  To be quite honest this weeks lot of catchy covers was quite thin even though the weeks releases were numerous.  A lot of #1’s in the indie sections populated this release and like all #1’s came the dumping ground for multiple cover versions for each of those releases.  After digging through all the crap I was able to finally get my 10, though it did prove difficult at times.  I think Namwolf #1 by Logan Faerber was by far a standout with it’s ingenious use of the cover space.  I also loved Jin Kim’s variant for Optimus Prime #6, nothing like seeing amazing G1 style work. If you feel the need to share your thoughts concerning my choices please do and I hope to see you back here next week for another edition of the top 10!

Top 10 List (Alphabetical Order…)

  • Batgirl Vol 5 #10 Variant Francis Manapul
