Here are my personal choices for this weeks top 10 comic book covers. These covers got my attention and whether being good or not deserve a moment of your viewing time, so here we go!
If you haven’t noticed it seems like Batman is everywhere in comics these days and maybe, just maybe it’s due with the soon to be released blockbuster movie of Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. This week we have a crazy looking cover by Alisson Borges representing none other than Harley Quinn looking oh so amazing. Next a rather comical looking virgin variant by Felipe Smith for Big Trouble in Little China grabbing several scenes from the original movie that are near and dear to my heart! Now there are times when a cover is created by an artist and you wonder oh my god how is this artist doesn’t have their own cereal?!?! Well Glenn Fabry is a well known artist and I can see why but boy does he need to be place on a pedestal with this cover for Bloodshot Rebory #8. Every detail is simply amazing and I know the colorist had a lot to do with the final outcome being so demonic in nature. Whether it be Glenn or the books colorist David Baron, those red eyes go deep into ones soul. Our next cover I thought a bit of imagination to it with our mechanical stork delivering what appears to be a freaked out baby so great job Leila del Duca.
Another fascinating cover to look at was this weeks Hacktivist by Marcus To. Sara Richard is a somewhat talented abstract at times artist and her ability to create a story with brilliantly intertwined imagery creating a final collage so worthy of recognition. Now it’s surprising that a series like Rat Queens is still so popular as it didn’t appeal to me but hey I enjoy the writer but doesn’t mean I enjoy all their works. Now the Vader series has been kicking some major tail as of late and this past week is the start of the Vader Down storyline. Joelle Jones did a fantastic job portraying each of the characters on the incentive cover. But what caught my eye was the detail in the background. That was the deserving fireworks that really made this cover pop! Tokyo Ghost #3 again you say? That’s like the third cover that has made the list and oh by the way, that means every release has made the list, wtf? Yes I know and while I may be biased towards Sean Murphy & Matt Hollingsworth’s artwork, compared to what it’s continually up against each release week quite frankly it deserves to be recognized. Finally, I found Tomboy #1 by Mia Goodwin utterly phenomenal. I love her big blue eyes and her sleek 50’s style face; very beautiful.
So that’s this weeks top 10 most fascinating, eye catching, crazy looking comic book covers that I could find. If you see any rare variants that you plan on searching for then good luck and happy hunting!
