Weekly Top 10 Comic Book Covers – Week 8/19/2015

Here are my personal choices for this weeks top 10 comic book covers.  These covers got my attention and whether being good or bad are deserving of your attention as well, so here we go!

As I hang out on the beach in Kona, Hawaii I thought to myself should I just skip this week?  Thankfully I had picked some covers prior to leaving so all I have to do is write about them.  So to get started I thought this weeks Bizarro cover was pretty cute and clean.   Bizarro was always an interesting cover, usually portrayed as a big dumb albino looking Frankenstein without the metal knobs but as of late it seems that with every new artist that has been involved with this new series we get a different out-of-the-box view of Bizarro that never ceases to amaze me.  Valiant Entertainment continues to kill it with their apocalypse end of the world style with their Book of Death event.  Both Book of Death and the Legends of a Geomancer made the list, gritty, yet detailed.  Disciples by Christopher Mitten had a unique quality to it combined with a very basic color scheme complimenting the cover.  Next we have Greg Smallwood’s Escape from New York comic/manga feel virgin variant cover.  I love the 3d effect that was done.  I realize it’s all about the layering but felt it was done just right, don’t you agree?

Purple Venom?  I suppose that’s the case with the variant manga cover for this weeks Guardians of Knowhere.  Our next cover was not all that eye catching but the subject matter around it sure was.  The fact that Mike Norton and Tim Seeley got together and created the Rocket the Raccoon and Deadpool Guardians Team-Up is eye catching in of itself.  I started reading it and it’s definitely a window view into a different Deadpool universe.  Next we have an elegant cover for this weeks Hexed by Dan Mora.  Each character was clean and sharp making it a standout cover this week.  Agnes Garbowska created a wonderly cute rendition of our favorite Transformers characters Windblade and Starscream.  Finally Elsa Charretier created another 50’s style manga looking virgin variant cover for Welcome Back’s first issue.

So that’s this weeks top 10 most fascinating, eye catching, crazy looking comic book covers that I could find.  If you see any rare variants that you plan on searching for then good luck and happy hunting!
