Weekly Top 10 Comic Book Covers – Week 6/17/2015

Here are my personal choices for this weeks top 10 comic book covers.  These covers got my attention and whether being good or bad are deserving of your attention as well, so here we go!

Not sure what happened this week but it was slim pickings for covers; definitely an off week.  Now that’s not to say I couldn’t find any covers and on that note here they are.  Astro City #24 just looks damn cool.  Nothing like seeing an ape jam and this one had skills.  It also incorporated good usage of thin lines fading outward that create the action like sequence of the ape jamming.  Next who doesn’t like viewing a patchwork face of a young Kurt Russel.  No color needed as we literally get the picture with the blood red and I love NY keeping in tune with the character and overall series  Next Charlie Adlard provides us with a subscription variant for IDW Publishing’s new Infinite Loop series.

Another new series out from Titan Comics is Minions.  Sold out and damn cute I was fortunate to snag 2 of these rare gems from Graham Cracker Comics website but as for anywhere else good luck.  After markets for this comics like eBay will cost you a pretty penny and unless they come out with a second printing will continue to hold its price.  Especially since the movie will be released in movie theaters very soon.  Pathfinder Origins was by far not a comic I would normally select but for some reason seeing the amount of detail that went into the dwarf and 2 elves made me choose it, very detailed indeed.  With this week came slim pickings but I feel like I would have picked Sanford Greene’s Rick and Morty variant from Oni Press because it kind of caught me off guard.  It stands out, simple, different, and very affective at grabbing ones eyes.

Sanford Greene did an amazing job on the new Runaways #1 regular cover.  The detail of the T-Rex for Emanuela Lupacchino’s Swords Of Sorrow #2 virgin variant was epic and having the 3 ladies dueling only added to the overall appealing nature of her cover design.  Irene Koh did a fantastic 50’s facial style for her TMNT’s cover, different than the usual Eastman and related covers you see for both the series and miniseries.  Finally we come to one of my favorite covers of the week, Wonder Woman by Brian Bolland that contributes to the DC Comics release of The Joker 75th Anniversary appreciation covers.  You see I like it so much because of how he did the jokers face.  I’ve always visualized the Joker in that way with elongated chin and 1950’s greaser hair.  Then with the bomb pictured seals the deal concerning the Joker’s winning personality.

So that’s this weeks top 10 most fascinating, eye catching, crazy looking comic book covers that I could find.  If you see any rare variants that you plan on searching for then good luck and happy hunting!
